 HOW TO FIND IT

Although Corvus is a small constellation it is moderately easy to find in the sky. Look for a trapezoid shape of four semi-bright stars riding on the back of Hydra.

Corvus, the Crow, is closer to the tail-end of Hydra and is only a short distance away from Spica, the bright blue star that lies in the constellation Virgo, the Maiden.

In fact, in APRIL you can see Spica rise with Corvus in the southeastern sky. Spica is about 17 degrees to the left of Corvus. In MAY the trapezoid shape of Corvus stands about 30 degrees above the southern horizon. By JUNE and early JULY, Corvus, the Crow, will be angled down lower in the southwestern sky and Spica will be 17 degrees above Corvus.
